The late Muni Shalit Reddy

A call for a united effort to strengthen strategies and measures within sports administrations in the country has been made by Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Iliesa Delana.

Delana made the following statement while addressing those who were present at the funeral of Under 17 football player Muni Shalit Reddy.

He said that Reddy’s death should be a wakeup call for all sports administrators in Fiji.

He urged all sports administrations to pool all resources together and start working towards drafting an operational manual with standards and procedures which could prevent future losses.

Delana said that Muni Reddy passed on being a Fijian at heart and was a brave sportsman and hero.

Muni Shalit Reddy drowned in Samoa while on an excursion with the Vodafone Fiji Under 17 soccer team.

He was laid to rest at the Nadovi Cemetery yesterday.
