Delana Primary School in Lautoka and Rotary Pacific Water for Life received grants from the government of Japan through its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects Program today.
Delana Primary School has received $165,890 for the construction of a two-classroom block.
The school currently has 430 students and 15 teachers.
Head Teachers Joeli Derenalagi says they had been using their library for classes.
The Rotary Pacific Water for Life Foundation has received $103,221 and the grant will be used to supply water to Vuiyakana Village and Kavika Settlement in the interior of the Northern Division.

The existing water supply in Vuiyakana Village cannot meet the demands of its 100 residents while the 76 residents of Kavika Settlement rely on a shallow well for water.
Operations Manager Ravikash Reddy says a borehole will be dug for the two settlements and preliminary assessments have been made.
