A number of pedestrians who cross the road at the Koronivia junction in Kings road will very soon have a safer crossing environment.
A class five student died at the Koronivia junction after getting hit by a five tonne truck two weeks ago.
He was crossing the road when the accident occurred.
The CEO of the Fiji Roads Authority, Neil Cook said they will be constructing a defined crossing point at the site.
Cook said they will also put up a pedestrian refuge in the centre of the road where pedestrians will be able to wait safely for traffic to clear on the other lane.
Cook said they have called in tenders for this project.
Meanwhile, a number of residents of Koronivia had raised concern after the accident saying it was not the first time a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle at the Koronivia junction.
