Days of worrying about my family being evicted are now over - Ram

A resident of Omkar settlement in Narere says the days of worrying about his family being evicted are now over after he received the title of a 99 year state land lease.

Nitesh Ram and his family were one of the 63 households that received a registered lease title from the Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum last night.

He says the long wait is finally over after many false promises were made to them.

Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum told the 63 families not to sell the land, make money and be a squatter somewhere else.

Sayed‑Khaiyum says 20 more families will also be given their land leases in Omkar Settlement in the near future.
