Water Authority of Fiji said the damage to its infrastructure by Tropical Cyclone Winston is expected to run in the millions.
CEO Opetaia Ravai said even with assessments still underway, they anticipate the amount to be huge.
Ravai also said their investment of $4 million in standby generators helped them during this natural disaster.
He said this ensured that they supplied water to many places in towns and cities even though there was no electricity supply.
However, Ravai said they are still carting water to some places as power supply is fluctuating in these areas.
Ravai also said they have restored 95% of water supply to the urban areas and they are now focusing on the rural areas.
