The Office of Director of Public Prosecutions is currently liaising with the Indian Authorities to have a Fijian national deported to Fiji to face murder charges.
Imshad Ali who allegedly murdered his 35‑year‑old partner at Howell Road in Suva nearly five years ago has been arrested by Delhi Police in relation to an alleged kidnapping case.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions confirmed to Fijivillage that they received the information that Ali was arrested by Delhi police on 18th September for overstaying.
The DPP's Office also said that Ali is wanted in Fiji for the alleged murder of Rajeshni Sharma.
Imshaad Ali who was a pilot in Fiji allegedly murdered a 35‑year‑old kindergarten teacher in November 2009 and was granted bail by the Suva Magistrates court due to his medical conditions.
In January 2011, Ali went to India on a medical visa and overstayed.
The body of the kindergarten teacher was found inside her house and a post mortem conducted revealed that she died of strangulation.
