The Financial Intelligence Unit is working with partner agencies to deal with increasing cases of cybercrime transactions in Fiji.
The crimes range from cyber laundering, email spoofing and identity theft.
Last month, the Fiji Financial Intelligence Unit received cases of fake Facebook profiles, scam emails and bogus loans involving the Reserve Bank.
Cyber criminals even created fake Facebook profiles of RBF Governor, Barry Whiteside.
Director of the FIU Razim Buksh says the profiling of complex cybercrime and suspicious foreign remittance transactions were key challenges for the Fiji Financial Intelligence Unit last year.
He says they are also conducting background checks for government agencies.
In 2015, the FIU received 27 requests for background and credibility checks compared to 20 requests in 2014.
The checks were conducted on 40 entities and 49 individuals.
Buksh says there has also been an increase in suspicious transaction reports.
They received and analysed 516 suspicious transaction reports in 2015 compared to 383 in 2014.
