A Chinese fugitive wanted by Chinese authorities was stopped from leaving the country by Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority officers over the weekend.
FRCA CEO Jitoko Tikolevu said the Chinese national, aknown imposter in his country, had arrived into the country through a fishing vessel and was leaving the country for Samoa.
The man arrived at Nadi Airport departure booth for passport processing.
Although the system cleared the passenger, the customs officers were not satisfied with the physical appearance of the person and the details in his passport.
Tikolevu said FRCA officers also conducted a body search of the passenger and recovered $10,534.77 of undeclared cash.
He added upon liaising with authorities in China, it was established that the man was wanted by Chinese Police for some time now.
The man was also handed to Border Police for further investigation.
