Vodafone Fiji says before customers confirm or opt into a data bundle they are informed of the charges outside the data bundle.
Head of mCommerce and Corporate Affairs Shailendra Prasad says despite these conditions being made known to the customer, they follow up with a reminder message as previously stated on the near expiry of the data bundle.
He says Vodafone is being very proactive in informing customers at every stage.
In that message sent by Vodafone Fiji, it asks customers to confirm their data bundle and also that “standard charge of $2.79 applies outside the bundle”.
Customers are then asked to confirm through a Yes or No option.
According to Vodafone Fiji, once subscribed into a plan and as customers’ allocated data reaches a balance of 50MB and 10MB data, they are proactively informed by Vodafone through automated flash messages.
Those automated flash messages say to the customers’ mobile device that they will run out of the data soon or have finished their data plan quota and standard web browsing charges of $2.79 per MB will apply outside the data bundle plan.
Some customers had raised concerns about Vodafone Fiji using their purchased credit without asking for permission.
