“Culture and tradition is what we all know is the identity of a nation and its people.”
This was the message relayed by the Assistant Minister for Women Veena Bhatnagar at the 2018 Andhra Convention.
Bhatnagar says people who are not in touch with their culture are just like trees with no roots.
She says it is very important that we know our culture and embrace it fully.
The Assistant Minister adds that one main principle of culture that we often overlook is how we treat our women.
Bhatnagar says we have many rules for women in our Indian cultures, but we often fail to give back the respect, care, protection and love our women deserve for all that they do.
She says today, in contrast to the past centuries, we find women literate, educated, and liberated to lead.
The Assistant Minister says more women in Fiji are now graduating, owning businesses and have better access to justice.
