Couple in court for alleged possession of illicit drugs

A 42-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman who were found in possession of illicit drugs appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates Court today.

42-year-old Rohit Singh was allegedly found in possession of 76.9 grams of marijuana while his 31-year-old defacto partner Mehnaaz Nisha was found with 2.4 grams of marijuana.

Singh has been released with a $200 bail bond.

Mehnaaz Nisha has been remanded in custody and will appear on the 27th of November to take her plea.

Police conducted a raid at Rohit Singh’s home in Lautoka last Thursday after information was received by the Western Division Operations team of the man’s alleged involvement in drug‑related activities.

30 parcels of dried marijuana leaves were found in the sewer lines of Singh’s home after he had disposed the drugs there.
