The Fiji Corrections Service will not be asking the Finance Ministry for any additional allocation for next year.
Corrections Commissioner, Colonel Ifereimi Vasu said they have utilised their budget wisely and a lot of work has gone this year in the rehabilitation work where they are trying to reduce the number of escapees from their prisons.
The Fiji Corrections Service received $570,000 this year for the re‑fencing of the Naboro Prison to further tighten the security.
$2.2 million also allocated in the 2014 National budget for the construction of a new Remand Centre and a Women's Correction Facility in Lautoka while the Yellow Ribbon Program was allocated with $200,000.
There are currently over 1,500 inmates in various prison facilities around the country.
