The contractual signing for Civil Works for the Nabouwalu Town development was done today between the government and the contractor, Hussains Hire Plant.
The government has given $7.1 million for this project.
While speaking at the contract signing, Minister for Local Government Parveen Bala says this is a historic moment as this is the first time a town has been designed and with proper planning.
Bala says that they will be having the ground breaking ceremony soon and from that point it will take a year to complete the town.
He adds that the new Nabouwalu town will also be disability friendly, have electricity, water, sewer services and footpaths.
