The Consumer Council of Fiji will send all complaints against a construction company to the Fiji Commerce Commission soon.
This is after the Consumer Council put out an alert about the construction company after receiving 23 complaints from consumers.
Council CEO Premila Kumar says they are concerned that consumers are being further misled and deceived as the company has ceased to operate despite owing thousands of dollars to many aggrieved consumers.
Kumar says their findings with the Office of Registrar of Companies shows that the company ceased to operate on 27th October 2015 and from 30th October 2015, a new company was registered under another name and both companies have the same director’s name.
She says that they have received 23 complaints against the company with monetary value of $127,505.
Meanwhile the director of the construction company has confirmed to Fijivillage that he had done the work that he was paid for and has also refunded the money.
He says the Consumer Council is giving out misleading information to consumers.
The director says that they will be taking legal action against any media outlet that reports on the matter and does not take his side of the story.
