A parliamentary committee report on the Consumer Council of Fiji 2015 Annual Report has shown that the Consumer Council of Fiji resolved 1,374 complaints in 2015 out of 1,672 complaints.

This recovered a total amount of 3.42 million dollars.

The report noted that the Standing Committee on Social Affairs was pleased with the Consumer Council’s position in playing a significant role towards the protection of all consumer’s interest and rights in Fiji.

It also highlighted that the Consumer Council of Fiji had to request an additional grant of $113,111 in 2015 because the government grant of $700,000 was not sufficient.

It was also revealed that the top 10 complaints received by the Consumer Council of Fiji in 2015 were about mobile products, landlord and tenant issues, hardware, food and drinks, internet services, water issues, television services, second-hand motor vehicle issues and clothing.
