Minister for Education Dr Mahendra Reddy

The consultation on the National Policy on Open Educational Resources was opened today by the Minister for Education, Dr Mahendra Reddy with an aim to increase access of supporting quality learning and teaching in Fiji’s education and training system.

While addressing the members of the Fiji High Education Commission, Dr Reddy said that this is a major leap for Fiji as it is also the leader among other countries in the region.

Reddy said that this will help the overall government’s vision of building a smarter Fiji as it will allow people to access information that they cannot afford to access.

Reddy said this will allow a major transformation to the society if we find that people are reading and involving in open reading which means reading outside what you are supposed to read.

The Minister for Education reminded everyone that they need to foster the culture of this education system.

The consultation is underway at the Holiday Inn in Suva.
