Fiji National University’s Labasa Campus is expected to be completed and ready for operations within the next 18 months as FNU has signed the project agreement with contractors Kartikas Construction Plumbing Services Limited.
The $27 million government-funded project commenced in 2015 and after some testings, the consultants have given the green light for construction works to begin.
FNU Chancellor Ikbal Jannif highlighted that this is phase one of the construction which includes modern lecture theatres, tutorial and teaching rooms, staff administration offices, computer labs, library and cafeteria.
Jannif further stated that an engineering workshop, gymnasium, student accommodation, dining hall and sports field construction will follow in due course.
The project works for the Labasa Campus will be managed by Civil & Environmental Engineering Solutions Limited (CEESOL) and technical support will be provided by Design Hut, Engineered Designs, Edison Consultants and Quantech Pacific.
