People are advised to contact the Land Transport Authority on the texting platform 582 if they notice any abuse of emergency and hazard lights by government and police vehicles.
Concerns continue to be raised on the abuse of the emergency lights by some of these vehicle drivers.
Fijivillage has received video footage of a police vehicle with flashing emergency roof lights, flashing hazard lights, headlights on, using the siren to clear vehicles and exceeding the speed limit in a heavily built up and hazardous traffic area at about 8.48am yesterday morning.
The footage shows the Police van forcing vehicles to clear a path at the Walu Bay roundabout.
The same vehicle is later seen lining up at the lights opposite the Bus Stand in no apparent hurry.
The Police van appeared to be transporting remand prisoners to court.
When asked by Fijivillage, Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says officers are allowed to use their discretion when escorting prisoners and the use of lights and siren is allowed if they are carrying high risk prisoners.
Naisoro says this is especially so in busy locations where foot traffic is high and there is a likelihood of interaction with members of the public or some maybe trying to get something to them.
She says this is done for a precautionary measure to get them to a safe and secure location for their own safety and that of the general public.
However she says people can report any abuse of emergency lights and speeding to LTA.
