Concerns have been raised on what the Ministry of Health is doing to address the shortage of beds and the lack of space at CWM Hospital’s Maternity Ward.
It has been noticed that in certain situations when the maternity ward is full, mothers who are admitted are left with no other choice but to sleep on mattresses that are put on the floor.
Some are even left sleeping on the walkway.
The Minister for Health and Medical Services Jone Usamate said he is aware of the problem and it can only be addressed when the new maternity hospital is built.
Usamate said people will have to work around the resources that are available.
