Complaints received through Land Transport Authority’s 582 texting platform are registered and automatically acknowledged.
That was revealed by the Minister for Transport, Parveen Bala after he was asked by opposition MP, Aseri Radrodro on the new texting system introduced by LTA and how they authenticate this information given by the public.
Bala says upon confirmation by the offender, actions such as warning, counselling and issuance of traffic infringement notices are served.
He says upon denial by the offender, the complainant is then called to provide their statement.
Radrodro then asked the Minister to advise them on how many complaints have been received so far.
Bala then answered that he will provide the statistics in the next parliament sitting.
