Members of the public who wish to file a complaint or provide feedback to the Land Transport Authority can now text to a short code 582 free of charge.
Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Parveen Bala revealed this in parliament when questioned by FijiFirst MP Ruveni Nadalo on what LTA is doing in relation to the complaints from the general public in regards to customer service.
Bala said they have set up an Independent Complaints Team in all districts who will forward all the complaints registered directly to him.
Bala added they have also installed CCTV cameras in the five major offices around the country to monitor how customers are being served.
He said the average waiting serving time has decreased from 45 minutes to 35 minutes while their target is 20 minutes.
He added they have also installed the Electronic Queue Management System in the major offices.
Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa questioned the Minister if LTA is planning to have buses allocated only for school children to avoid overcrowding.
Ro Teimumu said she has also observed that many employees report late to work because of this issue.
Bala said they have received a lot of suggestions in relation to this issue from the Fiji Roads Authority and various municipalities and they are working on it.
