The Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group has announced the lifting of the suspensions of Fiji.
This was announced at the meeting of the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group in New York.
Fiji’s Foreign Minister, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola said Fiji was grateful for the lifting of the suspension.
Kubuabola noted that the Commonwealth decision followed on from the holding of free and fair democratic elections in Fiji this month.
Kubuabola while responding to media enquiries said the good work of the Multinational Observer Group, led by Australia, Indonesia and India had cleared the election results to be credible and reflecting of the wishes of the people of Fiji.
He said the Government of Fiji would be giving due consideration to the implication of the Commonwealth’s lifting of suspension.
