FijiFirst Party Leader Voreqe Bainimarama stressed that the common name for all Fiji citizens to be Fijian does not mean that the power of the iTaukei is taken away.
Speaking to about 100 people during the FijiFirst campaign meeting at the basketball court in Raiwai last night, Bainimarama said that the common name is to make people proud of who they are and to also have national pride.
Bainimarama was responding to comments made by some political parties who are against the common name.
He said he wants to tell the people that if they hear some politicians are trying to change this idea, then these politicians want to go back to 2000 and 2006.
Bainimarama said if these politicians do away with the racial differences, then more developments will occur in the country.
The FijiFirst Leader said some politicians have claimed that any government has to provide developments.
He agrees with that comment and said that his government has provided a lot for all the people without discrimination.
Bainimarama said many people talk a lot about Christian beliefs but this is not reflected in their comments as they are still focusing on racial discrimination.
He stressed that good leaders do not promote racial discrimination.
