Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says comments made by some people that Muslims are taking over Fiji, are stupid and nonsense.

While speaking in the Budget Roadshow in Dreketi, Sayed-Khaiyum says the religious vilification by some people, including some politicians, is a serious concern.

A man raised concern that he had noticed people campaigning in the area, talking about Hindus and Muslims, and also making racist comments.

He asked Sayed-Khaiyum what can be done about this.

Sayed-Khaiyum said that this issue was also raised in the session in Savusavu.

He says people should just see the government’s policies, and assess whether it is favoring any particular religion or race.

The Attorney General says people should not fall for this nonsense as the government believes in common and equal citizenry.
