Josua Colanaudolu’s bail application has been denied by High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo.
Colanaudolu is charged with the abduction, rape and murder of a 14 year old girl in Deuba last year.
Justice Temo says written reasons will be provided later.
DPP lawyer, Sujata Lodhia told the court that they are yet to receive the grounds of challenge from defence on the admissibility of the accused’s confession.
Legal Aid lawyer, Michael Fesaitu has told the court that they will be challenging the alleged confession.
Meanwhile Acting Director of Legal Aid Commission, Shaheen Ali was also present in court today and told Justice Temo that the commission will be representing Colanaudolu in the trial.
This is after there was some confusion in the last sitting where it was not clear on who will be representing him.
Josua Colanaudolu who is charged with 24 counts of abduction, 12 counts of rape, one count of murder and 1 count of indecent assault has pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
