The Catholic Church in Fiji is hopeful they will be given the green light to bury the late Archbishop Emeritus Petero Mataca at the Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Vicar General Father Suluo Turagakacivi said the Suva City Council and the Ministry of Health officials will inspect the new tomb under the cathedral this hour.
Father Suluo said they are wrapping up work at the new tomb and they hope to be given the all clear by the authorities.
He added that the government delegation led by the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau and Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama presented their ireguregu in the last hour on behalf of the people of Fiji.
The Methodist and Anglican churches are expected to present their ireguregu this afternoon.
Meanwhile, bishops from the Pacific and Australia will be arriving shortly for the funeral on Friday.
Archbishop Emeritus Petero Mataca passed away last Monday.
