A Chinese fugitive who was stopped from leaving the country by Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority officers over the weekend will appear in the Nadi Magistrates Court today.
He is charged with failing to declare currency.
FRCA CEO, Jitoko Tikolevu said the Chinese national, a known imposter in his country, had arrived into the country through a fishing vessel and was leaving the country for Samoa.
The man arrived at Nadi Airport departure booth for passport processing.
Although the system cleared the passenger, the customs officers were not satisfied with the physical appearance of the person and the details in his passport.
FRCA officers also conducted a body search of the passenger and recovered $10,534.77 of undeclared cash.
Tikolevu said upon liaising with authorities in China, it was established that the man was wanted by Chinese Police for some time.
