China will look at continuing technical assistance in the areas of textile, clothing, footwear and health.
This was highlighted in the discussion held between the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya and the new Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Fiji Zhang Ping yesterday.
Ambassador Ping said that there will be a number of trade and investment related visits this year and this would provide an opportunity to further enhance trade relations.
He said this includes the proposed Free Trade Agreement negotiations between Fiji and China.
However, Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya said that Fiji will continue to capitalize on China’s position as a tourism market.
Koya highlighted that in the past six years, visitor arrivals from China have grown from 4,000 to 28,000.
