The Medical Services Pacific (MSP) has recorded 58% reports of child abuse cases over the years from children below the age of 18.
This was confirmed by MSP Executive Director Jennifer Poole who said this percentage is made up mostly of children under 16 years of age who regularly visit the clinic.
Poole said with the increasing number of treatment they provide at the clinic there was a greater need to have a Child Helpline Facility.
Poole said the country needs to get information and services out to children so they can ask questions and get the support they need.
She said the helpline will have two counselors and it will depend on the age of the children calling in which will then determine what kind of help and assistance the clinic provides.
Poole said once the Helpline comes into operation from February 2015 they will have a pilot test with a number of schools throughout the year to determine whether it is meeting the needs of the children.
The new Helpline Facility at MSP is with the support of the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation and three telecommunications companies namely Digicel, Vodafone and TFL.
