The Chief Justice Anthony Gates has acknowledged the support which the government is giving to the Judiciary.
Speaking at the signing of the Access to Justice project, Justice Gates says considerable support has been given and is being allocated for improvements of all kinds, whether in the construction of courtrooms, upgrading and extensions of existing premises, furniture and machinery.
He has also acknowledged the expansion of rural courts in Keyasi, Vunidawa and Tailevu.
Justice Gates says at one time, island courts sat once every 18 months as shipping and financial costs were big issues.
The Chief Justice says island court sittings now take place four times a year and the Judicial department has been provided necessary funds to help people is more isolated areas.
Justice Gates says no one should be left behind and this extends to a greater understanding of gender and disable needs.
The Judicial Department received $40.2 million in the 2016/2017 budget.
