The final decision on the changing of the name - Indian Division of the Methodist Church in Fiji will be made in 12 months’ time.
An Executive Standing Committee will discuss the appropriateness of the changing of the name and will provide its recommendations to church members at the conference next year.
There are concerns that the name is race-based and the division members themselves moved a motion earlier this week to change the name.
The committee will also provide its recommendations on the concerns about deaconesses currently receiving half of what the ministers are being paid.
Secretary of Communications Reverend James Bhagwan has also clarified that discussions at the conference are held in the i-Taukei language to accommodate majority of the i-Taukei speaking members.
He says translators are available for other members.
The Methodist Church in Fiji Annual Conference will finish this afternoon but the Festival of Praise will end tomorrow.
