The Fiji Bureau of Statistics says the reason they are asking people on certain things is to derive key indicators that will be useful to assess the demographic, social and economic welfare of the country.
People had been asking as to why they were being asked about the number of laptops, desktops or fridges they have or what internet service provider they were using.
The questions on household durables such as the number of laptops, fridges and other household items in the household is an indirect measure of the family’s wealth.
Emali Soderberg who is part of the Census Publicity Team says there will be no questions asked on income.
She also clarified as to why they are asking about access to internet and the internet provider people use.
The Census count will continue till the 8th of next month.
