The case of former Police Chief of Operations ACP Biu Matavou who allegedly swore at a junior police officer a year ago is now been internally investigated by the Fiji Police Force.
This has been confirmed by Police Commissioner Ben Groenewald who said the case is now before the Internal Tribunal.
Groenewald said Matavou has been reinstated to the Force and is now holding the position of Senior Superintendent and Divisional Police Commander Southern.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said all matters transferred to the DPP are continually reviewed to assess whether they meet the threshold for prosecution by considering the sufficiency of evidence and the public interest.
After careful consideration, the DPP decided that this matter did not meet the required threshold and the matter was discontinued.
The matter was referred back to the Commissioner of Police to consider whether a disciplinary charge would be appropriate.
It is alleged that Matavou swore at a junior officer in Suva on the 24th of August last year and was released on a cash bail of $2,000.
