The Fiji Cancer Society today announced that a total of $194,676.87 was raised during their three-month awareness and fundraising drive this year.
Chairman of the Fiji Cancer Society Board Phillip Low says that they have had a marked increase in support this year with over seventy organizations participating in their awareness and fundraising activities compared to thirty organizations last year.
He says that the Fiji Cancer Society kicked off with the Bushells Fiji’s Biggest Morning Tea in September through the on-going partnership with the Motibhai Group and raised a total of $46,756.42 and was followed by their Pinktober Campaign in October where they raised a total of $147,920.45.
Low says that the funds raised will be used in the Society’s continuing Patient and Client Care programs which include Clinical Care, Counselling, Patient Advocacy and Service, Support and Survivors Network, Training and Surveillance.
Low says that the Fiji Cancer Society is purely a supportive organization and is not directly involved in medical care and has a strong link to survivorship groups who help with the Society’s operations.
