Canadian national involved in $31M drug bust in Caubati charged and remanded

A 24-year-old Canadian national who is charged with one count of unlawful possession of illicit drugs has been remanded in custody.

It is alleged that on the 14th of this month, Joshua Aziz Rahman was found in possession of 39.5kg of cocaine in Caubati.

The cocaine found is believed to be worth $31 million.

The case will be called on the 1st of next month in the Suva High Court.

Magistrate Sufia Hamza has advised the defence to make a bail application in the High Court.

The prosecution made an application that Rahman be kept in police custody pending further investigation.

Magistrate Hamza approved the request.
