A woman in her 40s has passed away after a vehicle she was travelling in hit an electric post in Yalalevu, Ba yesterday.
The victim who was a Canadian citizen was a passenger with two others in a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old man of Tavarau, Ba.
It is alleged the driver tried to overtake a minibus and collided with an oncoming vehicle and the impact resulted in the vehicle veering off the road and hitting an electric post.
Police say the victim died at the scene.
They say the driver was treated and released and will be questioned soon, while the two passengers are admitted at the Lautoka Hospital under observation.
The road death toll currently stands at 65 compared to 62 for the same period last year.
