The main agenda of the Cakaudrove Provincial Council meeting is how to maintain the vanua.
Speaking from Somosomo, Taveuni, Roko Tui Cakaudrove Filimoni Naiqumu says Permanent Secretary for Itaukei Affairs, Naipote Katonitabua emphasized a lot on the importance of stability and moving forward.
Naiqumu adds that with development plans underway for many parts of Cakaudrove, they have set up a committee to work with the different villages.
He adds that with agriculture, some retired agricultural officers will head the rehabilitation of farms and those places that faced the wrath of Cyclone Winston.
Naiqumu confirms that the Tui Cakau Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu expressed his apologies as he will not be in the meeting.
Other areas that the council will focus on include a sports development program, youth involvement, installation of some chiefs to the vacant chiefly titles and how they should work more with the chiefs in better decision making.
The Cakaudrove Provincial Council meeting is currently underway at Somosomo Village in Taveuni.
