Health services at the CWM Hospital have been further complemented with assistance received from the Australian Government’s Fiji Health Sector Support Program (FHSSP).
The CWM Hospital received biomedical and laboratory equipment together with the opening of a newly refurbished laboratory facility worth $280,000 from the Australian High Commissioner Margaret Twomey.
While speaking at the handover ceremony, Acting Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, Marika Luveniyali acknowledged the continuous support from the Australian Government.
He said over the last five years the workload in the CWM hospital’s Microbiology Department increased drastically that there was a need to change and upgrade equipment.
He added that the replacement equipment will allow a great improvement in their diagnostic work process and will contribute to efficient and effective patient care.
