The Confederation of the Public Sector Unions has raised concern at the delays regarding the payment of overtime to nurses and paramedics in the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
In a meeting which was held by the Union, members discussed that delaying the payment of overtime for health workers is an agonizing act.
They say it is a clear breach of their terms and conditions of service.
It says the Ministry should not prolong the agony of workers who are faithful to their calling and attend to the sick and needy despite the non-payment of their dues.
The Ministry of Health had stopped overtime pay for all nurses and paramedics in June this year however health workers are continually compensated for this with a day off.
Minister for Health and Medical Services, Jone Usamate admits that the allotment for overtime had been overspent and the Ministry is now working on resolving the issue.
He says they are also looking at strengthening the management of overtime.
The Ministry of Health is also developing a strategy which will ensure that health workers are not required to work overtime.
