Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama reminded leaders of the Methodist Church in Fiji about the important role of Fiji's presidency in the COP 23 meet in Germany in November.
Bainimarama was speaking at the Bose Ko Viti as he told the leaders that climate change cannot be dealt with in 2 to 3 weeks but it will benefit the future generation in 30 to 40 years time.
The Prime Minister says that Fiji has taken a bold step to lead this high level meeting which also represent our resilience when we face a challenge.
He says that the COP 23 meeting enables Fiji to step up against big countries who are contributing to carbon emission and put forward a proposal for them to agree on.
The Prime Minister reminded the Methodist Church leaders that this is not a political statement but it is to save our nation and also the world.
He believes that many people really do not care about climate change and these are the people that need to be educated.
