The Citizens Constitutional Forum (CCF) has commended the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for strongly upholding and maintaining high standards of prosecution services in Fiji.
In a statement, CCF stated in particular the DPP’s decision to discontinue murder charges against four people who received unexplained injuries during their caution interview while in police custody.
The nolle prosequi was filed in the High Court in Lautoka on May 9, 2016.
The four were Jitendra Kumar, Subhash Chand, Parma Nand, and Deo Chand.
They were accused of murdering Jagdish Chand in 2010.
Each of the accused had suffered unexplained injuries at the time of their caution interview while in police custody.
