The owner of HyperChem Pharmacy Aiyaz Mohammed Mussa Umarji and his Manager Naushad Ali appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates Court this afternoon charged with being in possession of arms and ammunition without a license.

The court was told that they were allegedly in possession of 179 live M16 centrefire cartridge on the 1st of this month.

40-year-old Umarji was represented in court by lawyer Wasu Pillay while Ali was represented by Mark Anthony.

Pillay made an application for bail saying Umarji is a businessman and the owner HyperChem Pharmacy.

He said that Umarji is diabetic and asked the court to release him on bail.

Divisional Prosecuting Officer West Anil Prasad objected to bail saying it is a serious offence and added that the investigations are ongoing as two people are in custody and being questioned in relation to this case.

Magistrate Rangajeeva Wimalasena has remanded Umarji and Ali in custody and the matter has been adjourned to the 23rd of this month.

The bullets were discovered in a yacht at Vuda Marina in Lautoka last Sunday.

Police had confirmed that the yacht belongs to the owner of the pharmacy.
