Serious concerns have been raised by people as they were late to school and work after a Dee Cee’s Company Limited bus was stuck on the Walu Bay roundabout which caused a huge traffic jam at around 8:30am today.
People who were stuck in the traffic for over 45 minutes told Fijivillage that they could not see anyone trying to remove the bus from the roundabout.
We are currently trying to speak to Police and Dee Cee’s Company Limited on why quick action was not taken to remove the bus from the Walu Bay roundabout as it caused unnecessary traffic problems on the very busy Queens Road from Lami towards Suva.
Just in January this year, Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho had directed Traffic Police Officers to take urgent action and remove a truck that broke down on the main highway near the Lami Village.
Qiliho had then stated that under the Land Transport Authority Act, Police have the powers to remove the vehicles from the road and the owner can foot the bill.
We will have more in the next hour.
