The bail application ruling of a 34-year-old bus driver charged with raping a 12-year-old girl earlier this month will be delivered at the Nasinu Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Sanjay Naidu appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele today and the case has been adjourned to 3pm tomorrow.
Naidu’s lawyer Jiten Reddy informed the court that they have filed the bail application and the prosecution is yet to respond to the application.
Reddy told the court that since the copies of the reply are not available in the registry, it should be understood that the prosecution is not objecting to bail.
The prosecution say that they have made a formal response to the application made by Naidu’s lawyer.
Magistrate Ratakele says he does not have the response in the file. He says he will make the bail ruling tomorrow.
It is alleged that the bus driver raped the 12‑year‑old girl along Princes Road on the 12th of this month.
The alleged offence took place while the driver was on his last trip and committed the offence along one of the bus stops along Princes road.
The victim had boarded the bus from Nausori and had fallen asleep missing her stop.
