Bus Operators Association must justify the increase to bus fares - Abraham

Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission CEO and Chairman of the Independent Bus Fare Review Committee, Joel Abraham says he has asked the Bus Operators Association to furnish full information to justify their claims that their expenses have gone up and that they need a bus fare increase.

Abraham says he has no issues in reviewing it.

He says they need provision of cost information to do trend analysis to compare their claims.

Abraham says they asked for their 2017 financial information which the operators have provided, but only a handful of them have provided the 2018 data.

Meanwhile, Fiji Bus Operators Association President Richard Lal says they have been told by Abraham that they will continue working on their proposal.

He says it is now upto the operators when they provide the extra data that the Commission and Committee requires.
