Burger King has today launched its $2 million restaurant at Ganilau House on Edward street in Suva.

The restaurant will be open to the public from Monday.

The company has also handed out $2,501 cheques to the Saint Christopher's Home and the Society for the Blind.

The children of Saint Christopher's Home officially opened the restaurant and were later treated to meals.

General Manager Akash Narsey says Burger King had opened their first restaurant at the Nadi International Airport two years ago and later launched two more branches in Nadi.

Narsey says the company will open a fifth $3 million branch in Nakasi, which will bring their investment in Suva to $5 million in the next 6 months.

He says so far they have invested close to $18 million in the franchise, with a freezer and cooler storage facility nearing completion at the new Motibhai Business Park in Nadi.

Narsey says the new Suva outlet has 60 workers and 75 people will be employed for the Nakasi restaurant which will feature drive-through facilities.

They currently have close to 160 workers.
