Building applications to be processed and approved within 20 working days is one of the changes initiated by the newly appointed Minister for Local Government Housing and Environment Parveen Bala.
Bala said in parliament that he has initiated changes to the ministry and some of its procedures and policies.
He said land subdivisions will be processed and approved within 30 working days and rezoning will be processed and approved within 45 working days.
He told the parliamentarians that these changes will come into effect from January 2015, in order to meet the required legislature and legal obligations.
Bala added that all these approvals are subject to applications and consultants meeting all the requirements upon lodgement.
