The largest wooden tall ship built in Britain over 100 years, the Tenacious is currently berthed at the Kings Wharf in Suva.
The Tenacious is sailed by a permanent crew made up of professional seafarers and 40 voyage crew; the mixed physical ability crew of people who may also be referred to as ‘sail trainees’.
The 50 member crew sailed to Suva from Wellington New Zealand and will disembark the Kings Wharf on the 23rd of this month and sail to Cairns in Australia.
While berthed at the Suva Harbour, school students also had the opportunity to go on aboard the Tenacious.
The impressive 65m barque was designed in the early 1990's and launched in 2000 she was the largest wooden tall ship to be built in the UK.
There are only two Unique British Design ships of this kind in the world the Tenacious and her Sister the Lord Nelson.
36,000 people have since sailed on the two ships since they were built.
The Voyage Crew members are in Fiji to learn and experience the variety of marine life as they voyage across the South Pacific Ocean and also to learn new skills like celestial navigation.
