Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Mereseini Vuniwaqa said this at the closing of the Capacity Building and Planning Workshop which was organised by the Ministry of Women for the staff of the Department of Women.
Vuniwaqa says the workshop was timely, given the restructure and reforms taking place in the civil service.
She says the workshop was held to help participants improve their performance, as the reform focuses mainly on performance.
Vuniwaqa says the participants from the department of women, who focus on the empowerment of women and gender equality must know what the foundation of empowerment and gender equality and where it is headed.
She says the critical part which cannot be taught in any workshop is personal initiative and how one uses the skills they have learnt to provide the best service for their employer or government.
The Minister says the skills learnt and experience gained is all aimed at service delivery
The workshop was held for a week at the Tanoa International Hotel in Nadi.
