A boat captain has pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession of marijuana before the Suva Magistrates Court. Iliesa Cokanasiga is alleged to have been found in possession of 166.1 grams of marijuana on the 12th of October last year.
Police Prosecutor Corporal, Sanil Kumar told Magistrate Jioji Boseiwaqa that officers from the Valelevu Police Station had received a tip that the accused was smoking marijuana at a hotel in Suva.
A raid was conducted and Cokanasiga was allegedly found with aluminum foil believed to contain marijuana.
Cokanasiga will be sentenced on the 7th of March.
Meanwhile, Ronald Singh who has been charged with one count of being in possession of illicit drugs has pleaded not guilty to his charge. It is alleged Singh was found with 23.3 grams marijuana on the 10th of November last year in Lami.
Singh’s case has been adjourned to the 22nd July.
